2. Acceptance of Terms
By engaging our legal services or using our website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not engage our services.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Advocata. You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into contracts to engage our services.

Service Availability
Our services are provided from our office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While we assist clients throughout Malaysia, certain matters may require in-person attendance at our office or Malaysian courts. Geographic limitations may affect our ability to handle matters outside Malaysia's jurisdiction.
Engagement Letters
Each legal matter begins with an engagement letter specifying the scope of services, fees, and any matter-specific terms. The engagement letter and these Terms and Conditions together govern our professional relationship.
4. Client Responsibilities
As a client, you agree to:
- Provide complete, accurate, and timely information relevant to your legal matter
- Respond promptly to requests for documentation or information
- Maintain open and honest communication about your objectives and concerns

We conduct conflict checks before accepting new matters. If a conflict arises during representation, we will discuss options with you, which may include obtaining consent or withdrawing from representation.
6. Fees and Payment Terms
Fee Structure
Our fees vary depending on the nature and complexity of your matter. Fee arrangements are detailed in your engagement letter and may include:

Currency and Payment Methods
All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Payment may be made by bank transfer, check, or other methods specified in your engagement letter.
Payment Terms
Invoices are typically due within 14 days of issuance unless otherwise agreed. Late payments may incur interest charges as permitted by law. We reserve the right to suspend services for overdue accounts.
Expenses and Disbursements
You are responsible for reimbursing reasonable expenses incurred in handling your matter, including court fees, filing charges, expert witness fees, and document preparation costs.
7. Intellectual Property
Firm Materials
All materials created by Advocata, including legal research, memoranda, and documents, remain our intellectual property. You receive a limited license to use these materials for the specific purpose of your legal matter.

Content on our website, including text, graphics, and design elements, is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced without permission.
8. Disclaimers and Limitations
No Guarantees
While we strive to achieve favorable outcomes, we cannot offer assurances about specific results. Legal proceedings involve uncertainties, and outcomes depend on many factors beyond our control.
General Information
Information on our website is provided for general informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. For advice on specific matters, please consult with our attorneys directly.
Limitation of Liability

Post-Termination
Upon termination, we will provide your file and assist with transition to new counsel as appropriate. We retain copies of documents as required by professional standards.
10. Dispute Resolution

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from our services or this agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Malaysian courts.
Informal Resolution

Bar Council Procedures
Complaints about professional conduct may be directed to the Malaysian Bar Council according to established procedures.
11. General Provisions
Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with your engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between you and Advocata regarding our services.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
Assignment
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under this agreement without our written consent.
Notice
Notices should be provided in writing to the addresses specified in your engagement letter or to legal@advocataes.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions periodically. Changes become effective when posted on our website with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued engagement of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
For ongoing matters, material changes will be communicated to you directly.
